Day 1: Civitavecchia (Rome) | Embark

St. Peter's, a magnificent church with an awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel that has been recently restored to its former splendor; the Spanish Steps, a popular spot where people from all over Rome go by; the Colosseum, once a place where gladiators battled to the death; and the Pantheon, a remarkable architectural masterpiece that is considered to be a perfect representation of its time.

Day 2: Sorrento, Italy

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Sorrento is a charming coastal town on the Amalfi Coast. Its city walls rise steeply out of the sea, providing breathtaking views of the Bay of Naples. You can also take a fascinating trip to Pompeii, where the preserved remains of ancient Romans can be seen frozen in time.

Day 3: Amalfi, Italy

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Amalfi was a powerful republic of 70,000 people during the Middle Ages, rivaling nearby Ravello. To get a sense of Amalfi's medieval glory, wander through the grand Duomo, which contains the remains of St. Andrew. In the evening, visit nearby Positano, which is said to be the most beautiful town in the Mediterranean.

Day 4: Taormina, Sicily

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Barreling under full sail through the narrow Strait of Messina past Scylla and Charybdis, where rock and whirlpool almost claimed Ulysses, you arrive in lovely Taormina. Perched on the shoulder of Mt. Etna, Taormina inspired Goethe to say, ' It is the most outstanding work of art and nature.'

Day 5: Lipari, Italy | Sailing Past Stromboli

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Italy's seven volcanic Aeolian Islands, just off the north coast of Sicily, are a place favored by the Gods. In Lipari, climb narrow streets to the medieval castello and enjoy a secluded beach. As Royal Clipper sails past Isola Strómboli, watch the sky for frequent volcanic fireworks.

Sail around Stromboli with the backdrop of its famous active volcano, which had its last major eruption in April 2009.

Day 6: Ponza | Palmarola, Italy

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
The pastel houses of Ponza Town rise in neat terraced rows from the busy harbor, where sleekly groomed yachts and ramshackle fishing boats moor side by side. Happily, there are few tourists here, so it's a delight to wander through the unspoiled town.

Palmarola is a snorkeling paradise, part of a group called The Pontine Islands, located off the coast between Rome and Naples. A craggy landscape with pink coral beaches and emerald coves beckons, so don't forget your swimsuit and flippers. It is totally unique, isolated, and stunning.

Day 7: Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
Disembark after breakfast and continue your independent trip back home.
