Enjoy your day trip to Gable Island and the penguin colony. You will enter the Beagle Channel by paddling the inflatable canoes. While on a speedboat for Martillo Island, you will get the chance to watch penguins in their breeding habitat. Then take a motorboat from Harberton to the day's focal point, the massive Gable Island. After coffee, go for a stroll to discover more about this beautiful island, negotiate beaver dams, and a forest to get to the Beagle Channel shore.
Highlights
See wildlife: a variety of different seabirds and sea lions
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
From the hotel, you leave Ushuaia Eastbound along National Route No. 3 and Route "J". Once you arrive to Lasiphashaj river, you will prompt the inflatable canoes down the river, and into the Beagle Channel. The group will be provided with rubber boots, over pants and lifejackets for the activity in the canoes that will go down the river and into the sea. Once on the Beagle Channel, passengers will row setting course to the ranch. Throughout the journey at sea you will see wildlife: a variety of different seabirds and it is also usual, on the way to Harberton, to catch a sight of sea lions.
Once in Harberton, on board a motorboat, you'll leave towards Martillo Island. From the boat, you'll have the chance to see penguins in their breeding lair. Navigation on the motorboat continues up to the main attraction of the day: the enormous Gable Island, where lunch with a good Patagonian wine, soft drink and mineral water awaits.
After coffee, you’ll go for a hike to know more about this gorgeous island, crossing over beaver dams and through the forest to reach the Beagle Channel shore. From there you’ll take the boat to reach Puerto Harberton, and to hop on the bus back to Ushuaia.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.

Hannah and Nur got the gist of what we wanted our trip to be. They got us in hotels that were located centrally to historic tours. Tours and excursions that were significant, enriching and enjoyable. We had drivers that were on time/reliable. We got from location to location with ease. I would never have been able to plan this myself. I would not have known enough to ask for what we needed. This was above and beyond what I expected. Well done!
