Variety is the spice of the Three Arctic Islands: Spitsbergen, Greenland, and Iceland adventure, named one of National Geographic Traveler’s 50 Tours of a Lifetime. Check three different Arctic regions off your list, heading above the Arctic Circle to Spitsbergen, “wildlife capital of the Arctic” in the Svalbard archipelago, to remote East Greenland and ending in Iceland. The towering cliffs, iconic wildlife, massive glaciers and swaths of untouched tundra of these three Arctic tours de force never cease to impress.
Highlights
Immerse yourself in the icy realm of the Arctic with optional kayaking adventures
Marvel at the glaciers and wildlife of Spitsbergen and East Greenland
Hike the tundra and explore a remote fjord-strewn coast of East Greenland
Cruise in a Zodiac to explore diverse landscapes
Take the Polar Plunge onshore, or from the gangway or Zodiac
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Your Arctic adventure begins in Helsinki, renowned for its extraordinary architecture and intriguing mix of eastern and western influences. If you arrive early, explore the many museums, galleries and restaurants, relax at a Finnish sauna or wander the vibrant Design District before retiring at your included hotel.
Transfer to the airport and board the private charter flight to Longyearbyen. After embarkation, enjoy the great views of the mountainous landscape that serves as a backdrop for this seaside town.
Explore and enjoy the abundant wildlife and austere beauty found in the largest island in the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago, Spitsbergen. Visit the spectacular glacier fronts and steep-walled fjords, with walrus, polar bears and Svalbard reindeer amongst your possible wildlife sightings. You will be thrilled to see arctic terns, skuas, long-tailed ducks, kittiwakes and ivory gulls and if conditions permit, sail within 10 degrees of the North Pole!
While sailing south through the Greenland Sea, your Expedition Team teaches you about the wildlife and history of Greenland, your next stop. On deck, learn to identify seabirds on the wing. Take in a lecture, share your photos, sip an icy cocktail in the bar or watch a movie—there are many things to do during your time at sea.
Today, enjoy the Zodiac cruises and shore visits to several locations. Explore the remains of ancient Thule settlements and keep an eye out for grazing muskoxen—40 percent of the world’s muskoxen population lives here. Finally, sail through spectacular Scoresbysund, the birthplace of many icebergs and, some say, the most beautiful fjord system in the world.
As you cruise south, the Denmark Strait is your pathway toward Iceland. Be informed and entertained with presentations about the history of exploration in the Arctic and the seabirds you’ll see soaring above your ship.

Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.

Hannah and Nur got the gist of what we wanted our trip to be. They got us in hotels that were located centrally to historic tours. Tours and excursions that were significant, enriching and enjoyable. We had drivers that were on time/reliable. We got from location to location with ease. I would never have been able to plan this myself. I would not have known enough to ask for what we needed. This was above and beyond what I expected. Well done!
